Construction:  Made completely from Recycled Materials.  Cotton/Lycra scraps, discharged.  Old wedding veil net, trapping thread scraps left over from dyeing, batting scraps, used sheet for backing, tyvek mail envelopes heat cured and painted.

This quilt was part of an International Juried Exhibit called "Nothing New:  Fiber Art from Recycled Material in July 2001 at the Textile Center of Minnesota, Minneapolis College of Art & Design.

Inspiration: This quilt is made completely out of recycled materials, and the meteor nuggets at the bottom are what inspired the name.  This is my vision of what a meteor looks like as it makes its way from space all the way down through the structures of atmosphere to us on Earth.  Eventually at the end of its journey the meteor is transformed/melted into a hard jewel-like nugget of its essence.
