12 patch: Detritus
November 2003
23"w x 36"h
Materials/Techniques:
My handmade paper which includes, coffee, black tea, red onions, lavender, eucalyptus, bills run through the shredder.  Leftover Dockers chinos cutoffs as the background.  Scribble quilted in brown rayon.

Statement:
Detritus:  Any fragments separated from the body to which they belonged, any prodcut of disintegration.
The vaguely shield shape that this quilt became reminds me of how the fragments of our stuff protect us from the world outside.  The gentle colors were a big departure from my usual style.  But the textures and organic shapes are something that is a theme through the rest of my work.

Made for the QuiltArt Paper Quilt challenge, the challenge was that at least 50% of your quilt had to be made out of paper.....
